Distinguished Scientist in the US Registry of Scientists with patents and several publications in international journals, Dr. Gupta worked in MNCs and large corporates holding top management position.

Dr. Gupta is credited with setting up a Monoethylene Glycol project from Can Sugar Molasses for the first time in the world. Also, he brought Degussa AG Germany to India. He holds several patents to produce Lychee, Mango, and Ayurvedic wines for the first time in the world.

Dr. Gupta till recently held the Chairman (Industry-II) for Environmental Clearance with the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change. Also, he had been on the Selection Boards of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for the members and member secretary positions. He has been a member of the Quality Council of India (QCI), too.

Dr. Gupta currently holds the position of Chairman, Environment Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce, a National Apex Industry Chamber. He is on the Board of Norwegian companies - GreenStat Hydrogen India Pvt. Ltd. and Fiberstrength India International Pvt. Ltd.

As a prolific writer, Dr. Gupta has written articles on ‘Swacch Bharat Mission’ and ‘Gold Bond’ Schemes of Govt. of India published in Economic Times. Also, he wrote on ‘Abrogation of Article 370’ that was published in The Statesman.

He is the trustee of the Art of Living foundation and is involved with several organizations working for the underprivileged. He has travelled to 85 countries and is a well-known speaker on Climate Change, Environment, Process Safety and Risk Management, and Water Conservation.
